Mechanical Engineer – Tallahassee, FL Contract or Permanent
All candidates must be a US citizen capable of obtaining a Security Clearance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing the mechanical enclosures, mounting hardware, and thermal management systems for our FANUC Robotics, Autonomous Vessel systems, and military devices. This Mechanical Engineer must be highly experienced in electronics packaging, 3D CAD modeling, material selection, and designing for both consumer electronic and military standards.
Requirements
BSME (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering) required, MSME will be a plus.
3+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
Extensive experience with 3D CAD Design and Simulation Tools (Fusion 3D).
Knowledge of electronics packaging, thermal management, ruggedized enclosures, and marine-environment constraints (specifically corrosion resistance and waterproofing; MIL-STD experience is a plus).
Must be able to fully understand and create 2D/3D engineering drawings, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
The ability to use complex mechanical test equipment and Engineering Development tools.
Must possess strong technical and analytical skills.
Highly experienced in rapid prototyping (3D printing, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication).
The ability to work on individual assignments and to work in a team environment.
Fluent verbal and written communications skills.
Duties
Develop Requirements Definition, technically lead mechanical product development, identify required materials, and interface with vendors, machine shops, and manufacturers.
Design custom mechanical enclosures, brackets, heat sinks, and hardware for FANUC robotics components, autonomous vessel control systems, microcontrollers, and communication ICs.
Responsible for selecting materials, protective coatings, fasteners, and manufacturing processes for all mechanical components being developed, with a strong emphasis on corrosion resistance for marine applications.
Work closely with electrical, RF, and software engineers as well as customers, external partners, and subcontractors to ensure seamless system integration.
Accountable for project deliverables and responsible for designing to meet performance, safety, reliability, manufacturing, cost, and schedule requirements.
Develop analytical simulations (FEA/thermal analysis) and physical prototypes for proof of concept.
Participation in quality assurance processes including peer reviews, and design validation activities.
Support of fabrication, procurement, and assembly of hardware. Provide guidance to manufacturing.
Preparation of Engineering Technical Data Package including Parts List, Bill of Materials, 3D Models, 2D Fabrication Drawings, Assembly Instructions, etc.
Debug, test (environmental/drop/vibration/waterproofing/salt fog), and design validation of prototype hardware.
Work at a client site during integration testing.

The ideal candidate must have more than 3 years background in digital or analog design (BSCS or BSEE required, MSCS or MSEE will be plus)
The ability to use complex test equipment and Engineering Development tools.
A working knowledge of CAD Design and Simulation Tools (Cadence /ORCARD) is a plus. The ability to work on individual assignments and to work in a team.
Excellent communication and technical presentation skills required.
Some design positions require experience in ASIC or FPGA design with VHDL.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing all the software and firmware for our Radio Controllers and Video Recording/Encoding. This Software engineer must be highly experienced in embedded microprocessor-chip CPU programming, programming human interfaces, preparing drivers for LCDs, analog and digital audio control devices, FPGAs and logic circuits for consumer electronic and military devices.
Requirements
